Ambien Overdose: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments

Ambien (zolpidem) is a prescription sedative used to treat short-term insomnia, and yes, it is possible to overdose on it. Another review of emergency room visits related to sleep aids reported that Ambien (zolpidem) emergencies increased by approximately 220% from 2005 to 2010 [3]. In the latter year, female patients accounted for 68% of all Ambien-related emergency room visits, and about one-third involved patients aged 65 years or older [3].

Can you overdose on Ambien?
