What Is the K18 Pill

The K18 pill is simply the code imprinted on this oxycodone tablet. In other words, K18 is oxycodone, 5 mg of the pure opioid drug. Each small, round, white K18 pill is biconvex and approximately 6 mm in diameter, debossed with “K” on the left and “18” on the right [1]. Is K18 Percocet?

No. Percocet is a trademarked pain medication that contains oxycodone plus acetaminophen (Tylenol). For example, Percocet often comes as oxycodone 5 mg combined with 325 mg acetaminophen. Patients with chronic severe pain may end up taking multiple K18 pills per day, but always under medical supervision. Key point: start low (often 5 mg) and adjust slowly, never doubling doses without a doctor’s guidance.

How Long Do the Effects of K18 Last?

Oxycodone (K18) is a short-acting opioid. After swallowing a K18 tablet, you may begin to experience pain relief within 15 to 30 minutes, with the peak effect occurring around 1 hour [5]. The effects typically last about 3 to 6 hours [5]. This means you usually need a new dose every 4 to 6 hours to keep pain under control. The exact duration can vary by individual; some people may feel relief for only 3–4 hours, while others may experience it for up to 6 hours. 

Factors such as metabolism, tolerance, and interactions with food can influence this timing. Because of this relatively short action, oxycodone is often given 4–6 hourly. Extended-release formulations of oxycodone (not the K18 pill) last much longer, but the K18 pill itself is immediate-release. Always take the next dose only when needed and as directed, since taking it too frequently can lead to overdose.

Potential Side Effects of the K18 Pill

As an opioid, oxycodone (and thus the K18 pill) comes with a range of side effects. Many users experience short-term side effects soon after taking it, while long-term use can lead to additional impacts.

Short-Term Side Effects of Oxycodone

  • Drowsiness or sedation: Oxycodone often causes extreme sleepiness or difficulty staying alert. You may feel very drowsy or lethargic after taking it.

Depression and irritability are also frequent.

Adverse Effects of the K18 Pill

While many side effects are manageable, some adverse effects of oxycodone can be serious or life-threatening, especially in overdose or misuse. The most dangerous is respiratory depression – slowed or shallow breathing.

  • Respiratory depression: In high doses or when mixed with other sedatives, oxycodone in the K18 pill can slow or shallow your breathing to dangerous levels [3]. This reduced breathing can become life-threatening if not treated immediately.

Stimulants & antidepressants

Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
